You choose who rings you. Lesly, Tara and William each offer telephone calls through Let’s Just Talk OK. You’ll see their first names beside the call lengths in the booking calendar. Pick a name to see when that person is available.
Who can I book with?
- Lesly – 30 minutes or one hour.
- Tara – 30 minutes or one hour.
- William – 30 minutes or one hour.
The price is the same whichever befriender you choose. A half-hour call costs £30 and an hour costs £45. If you’d like to try a first conversation over a cup of tea, half an hour may suit you. If you already have a story you want to tell and would prefer more time, you can choose the hour.
How do I choose a person and a time?
Open the service list and choose the entry with the name and length you want. “30 Minutes With Lesly”, for example, is the half-hour call with Lesly. The next step shows available appointments for that choice. If the times don’t suit, go back to the list and try a different name or length.
If you’ve enjoyed talking to someone before, you can look for their name again each time you book. You can also choose somebody different. When booking for another adult, ask who they would like to speak to and agree a time when they’ll be free to answer. Both of you must be 18 or over, and the person receiving the call must want it.
What happens when the phone rings?
Your chosen befriender rings the number supplied at booking from our office number. There’s no camera to switch on. You can take the call wherever you feel comfortable speaking. Your confirmation email contains your appointment details.
There’s no topic to prepare. You might have a story about something that happened on Tuesday, want to talk football, or simply fancy hearing another voice over lunch. “I’m not sure where to start” is a perfectly good opening line, too. You can change the subject or leave something out.
Calls are not recorded. Befrienders may make written notes for continuity or safeguarding. Read about confidentiality and its limits if you’d like to know more before choosing a call.
